“Een Hollands stel uit de stad Den Haag heeft het plan opgevat om te emigreren. Weg uit Nederland. En een camping beginnen in Italië. Een bouwval gekocht, waarvan de riolering ontbreekt, er is geen warm water en de elektriciteit is uit het jaar anno domino zero. Ze hebben een jaar de tijd om de boel op orde te brengen.” Zo zou ons verhaal kunnen worden verteld.
Italy the year round
The intention to emigrate took hold in 2004 and 2007 was the day, we started to integrate in Italy. We have now been here for more than a decade, with 3 cats and a few chickens, all year round. Every year family and friends from the Netherlands come on holiday with us for a number of weeks. This way we keep in touch. Furthermore, we live here to the rhythm of the seasons.

De Italiaanse bureaucratie is een doolhof. Gebaseerd op wederzijds wantrouwen tussen burgers en de overheid. Maar als het erop aan komt, zijn ook bestuurders behulpzaam en creatief, en dat maakt weer een heleboel goed. Italië is een mooi land, met vriendelijke mensen en veel vakkennis. Het ritme bevalt ons, zomers veel gasten over de vloer, vriendschappen en contacten in het dorp, en stille winters in een uitgestrekt stil landschap.
Vriend Rob heeft Rome bezocht, in een zonnetje die zich niks van februari aantrok. Vervolgens de trein genomen om Michel – eenzaam en alleen op Faranghe! – bij te staan. Rob doet even afstand van het reclasseren van boeven en schavuiten om met Michel en de bomen praten.Uit weblog 7 april 2009

We love good food and like to cook Italian dishes. We love to discover local products and try out traditional recipes. In winter you often find us on the road to visit producers. You can also ask us for the nice addresses from the region where you can buy freshly roasted coffee, the artisanal salami and that beautiful organic wine.
The neighborhood has several farmers who make pecorino cheese.
The Fideli family makes bonbons since 1965 and chocolate spread, you want to lick your fingers.
